Services:NROCRC offers services for people who live in the Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode area. (If you do not live in these areas we can refer you to your appropriate encatchment area). Some of the services the NROCRC provides are: housing, mental health issues, youth, parent coordinators, healthy babies healthy children, crisis counseling, program against abuse, home management, baby cupboard, hospice support for the terminally ill, legal aid drop in, senior programs and a rural outreach program. Services:Offering a 16-week course in five specialized languages to assist foreign trained immigrants who need to build confidence in the language of their profession/trade; that may be unemployed or underemployed; or who need further training to work in their field should apply. The courses will be available to candidates with training/experience in five sectors: Advanced Technology / Business / Construction/Trades / Health Care / Transportation. Language Benchmark of 7/8 is required. Citizenship and Immigration Canada is funding these full-time courses, so students need only purchase textbooks. LASI World Skill Services (through OCISO)

Services:LASI World Skills was established in 1997 by a coalition of Local Agencies Serving Immigrants (LASI), including OCISO. OCISO hosts LASI World Skills workshops to help newcomers find work. The workshops provide job search training designed specifically for newcomers. The aim of the workshop is to provide the newcomer with the tools to develop an individualized and effective action plan for a successful job hunt. Participants are encouraged to use the LASI Employment Resource Centre, with access to a computer with an Internet connection, word-processing capabilities, a fax machine, and a printer. LASI staff assist clients with resume, cover letter and calling card preparation as well as Internet job search techniques.
